About Yale Hirsch

Yale Hirsch is the creator of the Stock Trader's Almanac. He is both a stock market historian and stock analyst. Yale Hirsch has formulated market indicators which are now widely regarded and often quoted, such as the "January Barometer", the "Santa Clause Rally", and the "Best Six Months of the Year."

Yale Hirsch has appeared on several financial television shows, has written a number of financial columns, and is widely quoted in major newspapers and financial publications.

About Jeffrey Hirsch

Jeffrey Hirsch is president of the Hirsch Organization, and Editor-in-Chief of the Stock Trader's Almanac and Almanac Investor newsletter (StockTradersAlmanac.com). He started with the Hirsch Organization in 1990 as a market analyst and historian, under the mentorship of his father, Yale Hirsch.

Jeffrey Hirsch regularly appears on major news networks and writes financial columns.

About The Hirsch Organization

In 1966, Yale Hirsch resigned as COO of Indicator Digest and formed The Hirsch Organization. The Stock Trader's Almanac went to press the following year. This book allowed Yale Hirsch to distill his lifelong interest in stock market history, cycles, and patterns into a practical working tool for the average investor. It was the first compilation of the market's seasonal trends, combined with a calendar, and laid out for use by non-institutional investors. It also brought to the general public many "statistically predictable" market phenomena that have since become well known, such as the impact of the Presidential Election Year Cycle.

Since then, Yale Hirsch has found that some days of the week, and some months of the year, are better for stocks than others. He also found that the stock market tends to make almost all its gains during 6 particular months of the year. The rest of the time, traders would be better off putting their money in T-bills.

Today's expanded Stock Trader's Almanac follows the original pattern, but contains the results of additional decades of market research. In addition, each year the Hirsch Organization staff of contributing editors provides recommendations for the best investment books, updates historical data, and introduces new features.

The Hirsch Organization also offers a monthly newsletter, Almanac Investor, delivered by e-mail and regular mail. It is a 16 page guide to market patterns, cycles, fundamental developments, strategies, and stock selection.

Manage Your Portfolio with the GetFolio.com Position Manager

There are quite a variety of investment newsletter services available to investors today, which achieve a decent track record. In reality, however, many newsletters have not translated well for most investors that subscribe to them. The reason? Money management. Without the proper position sizing using the right money management tool, you are only dealing with half the formula for success.

Let's face it: if there was one consistently successful investment newsletter, then the word would spread rapidly, and that one investment newsletter would have more customers than the population of China. The reality is that there has never been such a success. Why? Because in the final analysis, 8 out of 10 investors fail due to one simple reason: position sizing.

The majority of investors who subscribe to investment newsletters think that the process is as simple as "Just give me your recommendations and let me become as successful as you are". Unfortunately, as money managers know, entry points account for very little in the overall success of a portfolio. Find out why!
