Mike Gibbons holds a Bachelor's degree in Physics from Melbourne University, Australia. He has extensive experience in designing and developing database-driven computer systems for the financial services industry. Mike Gibbons was formerly CIO of a large financial services company, and an MIS Director for a Big 4 accounting firm based in New York. In addition to his financial systems experience, Mike Gibbons has also been involved in several multi-million dollar cost-benefit analysis projects, including the "Chunnel", requiring sophisticated computer modeling, Monte Carlo simulation and econometrics. He also spent 9 years at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, as head of their systems development unit responsible for econometric modeling and statistical analysis.

Mike Gibbons became interested in the CAN SLIM investment methodology in June 2001. He developed BreakoutWatch.com to assist other investors who are interested in CAN SLIM, but are frustrated by the paucity of tools available to apply the methodology in a comprehensive and time-efficient manner.

The O'Neil method (known as CAN SLIM) recommends focusing on fundamentals to find stocks that are worth buying, and then to select an appropriate entry point from chart analysis. However, even if you use tools that select stocks based on fundamentals, you can still be left with several hundred stocks whose charts need to be reviewed for a valid entry point. BreakoutWatch.com's mission is to make the stock selection process more efficient by automatically selecting stocks that are technically ready to break out and present them to subscribers. These stocks are potentially about to move higher, and if they do so on strong volume, then they may make significant gains in the following weeks and months. BreakoutWatch.com's secondary goal is to provide subscribers with tools to begin their due diligence on the stocks on BreakoutWatch.com's watchlist.

There are quite a variety of investment newsletter services available to investors today, which achieve a decent track record. In reality, however, many newsletters have not translated well for most investors that subscribe to them. The reason? Money management.
