About R. Max Bowser

R. Max Bowser is the editor/publisher of The Bowser Report (TheBowserReport.com and Stock-Information.com). The Bowser Report was started in the 1970s, and is an investment newsletter for stocks $3/share or less.

Max Bowser developed an early interest in journalism, and was editor of his high school newspaper for 3 years. After high school, he worked for weekly newspapers in Ohio. At the Eaton Press-Review he was the editor and a "string" correspondent for the Associated Press, the Dayton Journal-Herald and Cincinnati Times-Star. He later worked for newspapers in California, where his career was interrupted by military service.

During his 24 years of service in the Air Force, Max Bowser went from a headquarter clerk to an intelligence officer. He retired in April 1970 with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. After the Air Force, Max Bowser went to college and earned 2 associates degrees, in accounting and business administration. From 1973 to 1979, he studied the stock market, refining his techniques for investing in low-priced equities. It was during this period that he decided to concentrate on stocks selling for $3/share or less, and determined the format for The Bowser Report. Max Bowser invests his own money in his penny stock recommendations, having started his portfolio in July, 1986.

Max Bowser is also the author of several books: Making Dollars with Pennies, Penny Stock Winners, and Guaranteed Profits. In 1990, he started "The Bowser Directory of Small Stocks", which is a computer-generated compilation of between 700 and 800 low-priced equities (now on CD). In 1995, he launched The Bowser Warrant Registered, a newsletter for warrants for $3 or less. In 2003, it was added to The Bowser Report.

Manage Your Portfolio with the GetFolio.com Position Manager

There are quite a variety of investment newsletter services available to investors today, which achieve a decent track record. In reality, however, many newsletters have not translated well for most investors that subscribe to them. The reason? Money management. Without the proper position sizing using the right money management tool, you are only dealing with half the formula for success.

Let's face it: if there was one consistently successful investment newsletter, then the word would spread rapidly, and that one investment newsletter would have more customers than the population of China. The reality is that there has never been such a success. Why? Because in the final analysis, 8 out of 10 investors fail due to one simple reason: position sizing.

The majority of investors who subscribe to investment newsletters think that the process is as simple as "Just give me your recommendations and let me become as successful as you are". Unfortunately, as money managers know, entry points account for very little in the overall success of a portfolio. Find out why!
