About Laszlo Birinyi

Laszlo Birinyi, Jr. is the President of Birinyi Associates, Inc. He began his career as a sales trader, where he conceived the idea of a trading calendar and other market-oriented products. In 1976, Laszlo Birinyi joined Salomon Brothers with a mandate to develop products and analysis that would provide market intelligence and information to the firm's clients and traders. The first of these, the Block Trading Monitor, detailed the movement of block trades and unusual accumulation and distribution, and led to even more detailed information or money flows.

Laszlo Birinyi wrote Salomon Brothers' first weekly market commentary, Stock Week, and topical studies on volatility, flow of funds, market structure, and transaction costs. One of his efforts was The Equity Desk, a book written for Salomon Brothers' training classes. Laszlo Birinyi was later given the additional responsibility for international analysis and was the architect of the Salomon-Russell International Index.

In 1989, while a Director at Salomon Brothers, Laszlo Birinyi left to form Birinyi Associates. His first consulting client was Bloomberg LP, for whom he designed a variety of equity functions. Laszlo Birinyi is also an occasional contributor to Forbes and Bloomberg Personal Finance. In addition, he was a panelist on Wall $treet Week with Louis Rukeyser.

Manage Your Portfolio with the Position Manager

There are quite a variety of investment newsletter services available to investors today, which achieve a decent track record. In reality, however, many newsletters have not translated well for most investors that subscribe to them. The reason? Money management. Without the proper position sizing using the right money management tool, you are only dealing with half the formula for success.

Let's face it: if there was one consistently successful investment newsletter, then the word would spread rapidly, and that one investment newsletter would have more customers than the population of China. The reality is that there has never been such a success. Why? Because in the final analysis, 8 out of 10 investors fail due to one simple reason: position sizing.

The majority of investors who subscribe to investment newsletters think that the process is as simple as "Just give me your recommendations and let me become as successful as you are". Unfortunately, as money managers know, entry points account for very little in the overall success of a portfolio. Find out why! is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, Laszlo Birinyi or
