About Jon Markman

Jon Markman is the editor of Strategic Advantage and Trader's Advantage, both found at He also provides investment advisory services through SRQ Capital Management. A pioneer in the development of stock-rating systems and screening software, Jon Markman is co-inventor on two Microsoft patents, and author of two best selling books, Swing Trading and Online Investing.

Jon Markman was an investments columnist and investigative reporter at the Los Angeles Times from 1984 to 1997, managing editor and columnist at CNBC on MSN Money from 1997 to 2002, and portfolio manager and senior investment strategist at a multi-strategy hedge fund from 2002 to 2005. A graduate of Duke University and the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism, Jon Markman speaks frequently on investment topics at conferences worldwide, as well as on TV and radio.

Trader's Advantage is a weekly service, where Jon Markman identifies the best stocks to trade in and out each month for the greatest profits. He uses swing trading principles to capture profits of 15% to 40% in less than 90 days. In each issue of Traders advantage, Jon Markman will identify beaten-down stocks on the brink of reversal, and powerful momentum stocks breaking out to new highs. Each issue is posted to at the close of the market on Wednesday. A Buy List is also provided on the web site, with all of Jon Markman's current recommendations, buy limits, targets, and other quick-reference information that will help subscribers decide which recommendations fit their investment needs best. In general, Trader's Advantage aims for an average 30 day holding period. At the beginning of each month, Markman will give subscribers about 10 stocks, called "The Tactical 10", that he recommends subscribers buy and hold for the remainder of the month.
